Gender Plus Pilot to Significantly Reduce Costs for Successful Applicants Seeking Gender Affirming Care

Thanks to a generous donation, we are delighted to be able to announce the launch of a groundbreaking initiative to support those facing financial hardship.

In 2024, we received a meaningful donation specifically designated to help individuals from low income households to access vital gender affirming services. After careful consideration of how to maximise this gift's impact, we have developed the Reduced Fee Pathway Pilot - a programme that dramatically reduces the financial burden of gender-affirming care.

The Pilot will initially support four individuals (two under 18, two over 18) who demonstrate financial need.

While limited in its scope, this pilot programme will serve to inform the way in which Gender Plus is able to support those on lower incomes going forward.

Life-Changing Cost Reductions

Those who qualify will have access to significantly reduced fees:

  • Gender assessment appointments: reduced from £325 to just £40 (88% savings)

  • Hormone Clinic initial appointment: reduced from £325 to £40 (88% savings)

  • Monthly subscription fees: reduced from £90 to £20 (78% savings)

The programme covers costs for up to 30 months, providing long-term support throughout the patient’s journey. Following two years of monitoring, we will request your GP take over your care, in line with NHS adult gender service guidelines.
